Finding the perfect board for your Giant Chess Set is critical if you are to get the full effect of the impressive Giant Garden Chess Set.

We find that most customers choose to build a permanent patio or paved are, using paving slabs of different colours. To make this work properly, the base diameter of the chess pieces must be large enough to look right on the slabs. That’s why we make our bases with a 24cm base diameter, we think it is the ideal size for a standard size paving slab. Any smaller, and it just looks wrong.

But, for the customers who do require a board, we have some options.

Firstly, we have a giant plastic mat, printed in the traditional black and white squares of the classic chess board. This is great for playing Giant Chess indoors, since it can be easily rolled up and stored away. Outside of course the mat is not permeable, so can get wet, and then muddy if left out permanently.

So for a permanent or temporary outdoor Giant Board, we have the specially designed 64 piece giant chess board. The individual squares of the board clip together simply so can be taken down and packed away very easily.

The squares all have little pegs that lift it off the grass slightly, and the mesh design allows the light and air to flow thorough the board, meaning that the grass underneath the board does not get damaged.
